HIGHLIGHTS

 

·          Dr. Easa is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in his field, with ScholarGPS ranking him #3 in transportation engineering and #7 in surveying. His research encompasses a wide range of transportation areas, including planning, design, operation, and management.

·          He has published over 470 refereed journal articles and served as the editor of a bestselling book on Urban Planning and Development Applications of GIS, published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Transportation Engineering and the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.

·          A Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), he has held significant positions such as President of the Online Network Enabled ITS Research Society and CSCE Vice-President.

·          His leadership has extended nationally and internationally, having led a national delegation to China, judged the annual Canadian Consulting Engineering awards, and served on a national grant selection committee. He has organized and chaired many conferences, sponsored by ASCE, CSCE, and IAAM.

·          His outstanding contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous lifetime achievement awards, including the Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award from ASCE (2001), the Sandford Fleming Award from CSCE (2003), the Arthur M. Wellington Prize from ASCE (2005), the Award of Academic Merit from the Transportation Association of Canada (2010), and the IAAM Medal from the International Association for Advanced Materials (2018).

2023        Best Presentation Award: A paper entitled “Road user’s rage: Review and remedies” by Said Easa, Yubing Zheng, Yang Ma, and Chenzhu Wang, International Conference on Psychology, held on December 18-19, 2023 won was selected for the best presentation award.

2023        Best Paper Award: A paper entitled “Merging control strategies of connected and autonomous vehicles at freeway on-ramps: A comprehensive review,” by J. Zhu, S. Easa, and K. Gao, Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, 5(2), 2022 was selected for the 2022 Best Paper Award of the journal. The award involves a certificate and a cash prize. 

2021        Best Paper Award: A paper entitled “Modeling Vehicle Collision Instincts over Road Midblock using Deep Learning,” by S. Patil, N. Raju, S. Arkatkar, and S. Easa won the Best Paper Award of the traffic engineering track at the 8th International Conference on Transportation Systems Engineering and Management (CTSEM2021), held online in Kerala, India, August 26-27, 2021.

2020        IAAM Fellow Award, Award was given by the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM). The lecture was entitled "Uncertainty-based Superpave asphalt mix design.”

2020        IAAM Lecture Award, Award was given to postdoc fellow Dr. V. Abolhasannejad by IAAM. The lecture was entitled "Experimental evaluation of deformation of transport infrastructures using image-based methods," by Abolhasannejad, Easa, Dong, Huang, and Li.

2018        IAAM Medal. The International Association for Advanced Materials (over 50,000 members from 139 countries) has honoured Dr. Said Easa with the IAAM Medal for 2018 for "notable and outstanding research in Advanced Materials Science & Technology." The award was presented to Dr. Easa by IAAM Secretary-General Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari at the award ceremony held at the European Advanced Materials Congress, Stockholm, Sweden, August 20-23, 2018. Award

2021        International Academic Chair, 6th International Conference on Electromechanical Control Technology and Transportation (ICECTT 2021), held in Chongqing, China, May 14-16, 2021. The conference was organized by the Academic Exchange International Center and co-organized by more than ten universities in China. The conference attracted nearly 300 experts, teachers, and students from more than 40 universities and scientific and technological enterprises.
