H03:
no interaction between treatment and age in terms of days with inflammation
F(calc):
MS(trXage) / MS(res) = 0.986
F(0.05)(2,24): 3.4 Unable to reject Ho3
Summary..
There was
no interaction observable between the two main factors and this is
endorsed by the
ANOVA
analysis. (This simplifies the explanation)
The
TREATMENT reduced the number of days when inflammation was present to
approximately
two-thirds of
the period with inflammation when no treatment (control) was given (means
of 12 days v
18 days). Negligible difference was noted between low and high
doses. This
difference was
not enough to claim statistical significance.
AGE
affected the number of days with inflammation. The average # of days for
young animals was
12.6 while
older animals showed 15.3 days. This difference was statistically
significant at P<0.05.
