AWARDS/HONOURS 

International

2019          Featured Paper. A paper entitled, “Performance-Based Analysis in Civil Engineering: Overview of Applications,” by S. Easa and W. Yan was selected as the Featured Paper in a special issue of the Infrastructures Journal, 4(2), 28, 1-41, 2019. The issue includes 21 research papers and one review paper. The special issue is guest edited by Dr. Pedro Arias-Sánchez (Editor-in-Chief) and Dr. Susana Lagüela López.

2019          Invited Delegate. Invited by the Government of China to attend the ceremony of the national Anniversary of the Founding of China, held in Great Hall, Beijing, China, September 26-29. One major event attended was the seminar on “China Science and Technology Innovation Policy.”

2019          Member, Advisory Board. The activities include: If you serve on the Advisory Board, you can help us on the following aspects: (1) advising on journal policy, development strategies, and promotion. (2) being invited to make preliminary check and final decision for the submissions falling in my area of expertise, (3) proposing and serving as guest editor of Special Issues, and (4) helping to promote the journal at scientific conferences and through other venues.

2018          IAAM Medal for 2018. The International Association for Advanced Materials (over 50,000 members from 139 countries) has honored Dr. Said Easa with the IAAM Medal for 2018 for "notable and outstanding research in the Advanced Materials Science & Technology." The award was presented to Dr. Easa by IAAM Secretary General Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari at the award ceremony held at the European Advanced Materials Congress, Stockholm, Sweden, August 20-23, 2018. Award

2018          Best Paper Award, Journal of Transportation Engineering: Part A – Systems, American Society of Civil Engineers, for paper entitled, "Innovative roadside design curve of lateral clearance: roadway simple horizontal curves." By You, Q. and Easa, S., 142(11), 2016.

2007          K.B. Woods Award Nominee, Award given each year by the U.S. Transportation Research Board for the best journal paper in the area of design and construction.

2005          Arthur M. Wellington Prize, from American Society of Civil Engineers for the best paper on transportation on land, on water, in air, or on closely related fields such as structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. Award.

2001          Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award, from American Society of Civil Engineers in recognition of "outstanding contributions to ASCE and the transportation profession throughout his career at national and local levels both professionally and as an academician.Award

2017          Best Paper Award, General Conference, Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, held in Vancouvre, Canada, for the paper entitled “Proposed Passing Collision Warning System for Two-Lane Highways,” was co-authored by U. Hassein, M. Diachuk, and S. Easa.

2011          Fellow, The Canadian Academy of Engineering. Award

2010          Award of Academic Merit from Transportation Association of Canada “in recognition of his long-term contribution to the advancement of the academic field and to the development of tomorrow's transportation leaders. Award

2010          James A. Vance Award, from Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in recognition of outstanding contributions towards the advancement of the Society. Award

2003          Sandford Fleming Award, from Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in recognition of "outstanding contributions to the development and practice of transportation engineering in Canada." Award

2002          Keynote Speaker, National Lecture Tour on "Smart-human centred road safety system," conducted in 12 cities across Canada, sponsored by CSCE.
