Teaching

Below is a list of courses that I am teaching in the coming academic year (F2009-W2010), as well as courses that I have taught before, at Ryerson or elsewhere. My active courses have Blackboard sites that enrolled students can access via RAMSS. Ryerson students can learn more about the philosophy option within the Arts and Contemporary Studies program by clicking here.

PHL 365: Philosophy of Beauty (Fall 2009)

      > Read the syllabus

Can beauty be defined? Are judgements of beauty fundamentally subjective? Does beauty have value, or is it a harmful and oppressive notion? Are humans ‘hard-wired’ to pursue the beautiful?

PHL 606: Philosophy of Love and Sex (Winter 2010)

    > Read last year's syllabus ...

What is romantic love? What relation does it have to sex? Is adultery always morally wrong? What is the moral status of prostitution and the commodification of sex?
